Woman with suspended license causes fatal car accident

by | Oct 25, 2013 | Car Accidents |

A 35-year-old female driver has been cited for careless driving and charged with causing a death while driving after a recent rush hour traffic accident claimed the life of a 58-year-old man.

The male driver was driving his small utility truck without a passenger in a southbound lane near on Route 78 when the woman’s car swerved into oncoming traffic and struck his vehicle. The impact caused the truck to flip over and eject the male driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigating Newark Police found that the woman should not have been driving because her license had been under suspension.

Newark’s streets are generally safe when motorists exercise caution when driving. However, some drive negligently and inattentively, which makes them more likely to hurt themselves and others. This may well have been the case in this recent car accident: The actions of a driver who should never have been behind the wheel in the first place ended up taking the life of another.

This case shows just how deadly negligence can be when a driver fails to follow safe driving practices. A negligent driver not only can cause property damage to vehicles, the roadway and other structures but also serious injuries to other drivers. And in some cases such as this one, someone may lose his or her life.

Negligence has no place on the streets of Newark or anywhere in New Jersey. Fortunately for any Newark motorist who is injured in an auto accident because of the actions of a negligent driver, compensation for damages incurred can be obtained if are able to hold the negligent driver legally responsible. If a fatality is involved, then family members can pursue a claim on the victim’s behalf. Competent legal guidance should be sought if this course is pursued.
